My research interests interface ecosystem, community and population ecology.  I study the interaction between population and community structure and nutrient storage and cycling and their combined effects on ecosystem functioning.  I am particularly interested in applying this research to understand the effect of anthropogenic stressors (overfishing, eutrophication) on ecosystems.  Currently, my dissertation research is being conducted in the coastal benthic ecosystems of the Bahamas. Specific projects are:

 (1) large-scale predator exclusion manipultation (2) exploring the contribution of nutrient recycling by animals to primary production (3) whole-estuary restoration  projects, (4) understanding nutrient limitation and nutrient dynamics.
